A small brown fruit with sweet, grainy, caramel-like flesh.  

  • Chico (CHEE-koh) – The Filipino word for sapodilla.  
  • Chico tastes very sweet, like brown sugar or caramel, with a soft, grainy texture.  
  • Filipinos eat chico fresh — just slice in half and scoop out the flesh with a spoon.  
  • Available year-round but sweetest from December to February.  
  • Chico is rich in fiber and vitamin A for good digestion and healthy eyes.
