Guava (Bayabas)

A round, tropical fruit with a sweet, tangy flavor and crunchy little seeds that make every bite fun!

  • Bayabas (bah-YAH-bas) – The Filipino name for guava.
  • Guavas smell amazing — sweet and flowery, like candy from nature! The skin can be eaten, and inside you’ll find soft pink or white flesh full of tiny edible seeds that crunch like sprinkles.
  • Filipinos love eating guava fresh with a sprinkle of salt or turning it into juice on hot days. It’s also used in sinigang sa bayabas, a warm soup that tastes both savory and fruity!
  • Guavas grow all year in the Philippines, but they’re extra plentiful from August to November.
  • Guavas are full of vitamin C — even more than oranges! They help you stay strong, keep your tummy healthy, and make your skin glow.
