Laing

A spicy and creamy Filipino dish made with dried taro leaves cooked in coconut milk, chili, and shrimp paste. It’s a beloved Bicolano specialty known for its rich flavor and comforting heat.  

Laing (LAH-ing) – Refers to dried taro leaves cooked in coconut milk.

Recipe for 4 People

  • 3 cups coconut milk (second press) 
  • Β½ kg pork 
  • Shredded dried taro leaves 
  • Ginger, garlic 
  • Red & green chilies 
  • 2–3 cups first-press coconut milk 
  • Salt  

Prep Time: 10 minutes

Cook Time: 30 minutes

  1. Simmer second-press coconut milk.   

  2. Add pork, salt, ginger, garlic, and taro leaves.   

  3. Cook gently, add chilies and first-press coconut milk.  

  4. Continue until pork is tender and sauce thickens.  

  5. Serve with rice.
