Lumpiang Shanghai

A popular Filipino spring roll made with ground pork, vegetables, and seasonings, all wrapped in thin wrappers and deep-fried until crispy and golden. It’s a favorite party snack, often served with sweet and sour or spicy dipping sauce.  

Lumpiang Shanghai (loom-pee-AHNG shang-HIGH) – “Lumpia” means spring roll, “Shanghai” refers to its Chinese influence.  

Recipe for 4 People

  • 1 kg ground pork 
  • 1 carrot, onion, singkamas (jicama) 
  • 3 eggs 
  • Spring onions, kinchay (Chinese celery) 
  • 4 tbsp fish sauce 
  • Lumpia wrappers 
  • Cooking oil for frying  

Prep Time: 15minutes

Cook Time: 15 minutes

  1. Mix pork, vegetables, eggs, seasonings.   

  2. Wrap 1 tbsp filling in lumpia wrapper, seal with water.  

  3. Fry until golden brown.  

  4. Serve with sweet & sour sauce.
