 This dance began as a mock battle between Christians and Moros over coconut meat (latik). Dancers strike shells on their chests, thighs, and backs while following a powerful rhythm.  ✨ 

Fun Fact: Latik is the crunchy coconut curd left after boiling coconut milk — and it smells amazing! 😋  

Maglalatik (mag-lah-LAH-tik) – “maker of latik”
