Pabitin  

 A popular Filipino party game where players jump and reach for prizes hanging from a decorated bamboo frame that is raised and lowered above them.

Bamboo or lightweight frame

String

Small prizes, toys, or treats

Rope for raising and lowering the frame

Open area

Several players

Attach prizes to strings around the frame.

Hang the frame overhead using a rope.

Have an adult control the frame from a safe position.

Gather the players underneath the pabitin.

Raise and lower the frame while players jump and reach for prizes.

Players grab as many prizes as they can.

Keep playing until all the prizes are taken!

  • Pabitin (pah-bee-TEEN) — from bitin, meaning “to hang” or “suspend”

  • Kunin mo! (KOO-neen moh) — “Grab it!”
