Sack Race

A fun Filipino party and schoolyard race where players stand inside sacks and hop toward the finish line without falling over.

  • 1 sturdy sack for each player
  • Open, flat playing area
  • Starting line
  • Finish line
  • 2 or more players
    1. Mark a starting line and a finish line several yards apart.
    2. Give each player a sack large enough to reach around their waist.
    3. Have players step inside their sacks and line up at the starting line.
    4. Make sure the course is clear of rocks, holes, and other obstacles.
    1. Each player stands inside a sack and holds the top securely with both hands.
    2. When someone calls “Go!”, everyone begins hopping toward the finish line.
    3. Players must keep both legs inside the sack while racing.
    4. If you fall, get back up and continue from where you fell.
    5. Stay inside your lane and avoid bumping into other players.
    6. The first player to cross the finish line while still inside the sack wins!

    • Handa, takbo! (HAHN-dah, TAHK-boh) — “Ready, run!”
